THREE WHOLE MONTHS

I feel old. When I was a little girl the "old" people (grandparents, great aunts) would talk about how quickly time passes by. Of course as a child, I had no real sense of time, so it was "crazy" talk to me. Now, though, I understand. Ava is now 3 months old - 13 weeks tomorrow, and all I can say is, where has the time gone?

13 things about Ava since she is 3 months (13 weeks) old...

1. Ava began sleeping through the night at 10 weeks on the dot. :) It's all her - not my mothering, trust me.

2. She smiles a lot, especially when someone is talking to her.

3. She loves to have what my mom calls "girl talk" while she's lying on her changing pad. She'll coo and goo and grin and squeal for a long time there. And she LOVES to have her diaper changed (no wipe warmer - she prefers the plain old cool ones).

4. Ava has a favorite holding position - she prefers to be on your shoulder to look at everything around her because...

5. She is holding her head up very well and looking around (got one of those Bumbo seats this weekend), and...

6. She really enjoys pushing her tush in the air when you place your hand under her feet while she's on your shoulder.

7. Ava usually sneezes in twos - sometimes threes, and then her former sigh of contentment following the sneezes has turned into a grin.

8. She has big blue eyes that people comment about often- will they stay? Brent has green eyes, mine are grayish blue, but my dad and his mom both have very bright blue eyes...we'll see.

9. Ava loves, LOVES singing - people singing to her - and music. Her favorites include my family's "I love you" song and the name song (Ava ava bo bava...), but she likes non-melodic (is that a word?) made up songs, too.

10. Her head is still a bit flat on the right back side - trying no to obsess, but do not want her to need a helmet. (!!)

11. Ava loves to nurse - she'll take a bottle, but nothing soothes her like a good nursing session... and she enjoys pushing her legs against the arm of the chair while nursing. She'll push so hard sometimes that she jars herself forward several inches.

12. She has 3 favorite games: the face blowing game, the stick out your tongue game, and the mimick Ava's noises and expressions game (Brent started that one with her and she LOVES it).

13. Ava loves her paci, but only when she wants it. If I pop it in her mouth when she doesn't want it, she makes a face like it's covered in lemon juice and promptly spit it out. Sometimes she'll do this, then I try giving it to her again and she takes it like "where have you been friend?!", suck, suck, suck. When she's getting really hungry, she really sucks on it - you can hear it, like she's really working it over. :)

We are very blessed to have been given sweet little Ava. She is such an easy and happy baby - she has us both wrapped around her little fingers, especially her daddy. She is our greatest gift.
