MY SWEET MOM

Here Mom is holding Ava for the first time just after Ava was born (it's actually close to midnight in the picture - Ava was born at 10:11 pm) on my Mom's birthday - try to top that one next year, right?

This Monday, March 19 in the morning, my sweet Mom will have to under go surgery yet again. This time to remove her thyroid due to nodules growing on it, which will become cancer if they are not already cancer. This is not breast cancer related directly - as in she does not have metastatic breast cancer - still breast cancer free!! The nodules were most likely caused by the radiation treatments to wipe out the BC - nice...one treatment to save your life from one disease can inadvertently cause another yucky disease similar to the one you were trying to survive in the first place. Stupid cancer. Grrr. Still, we are blessed that Mom's doctors are not only top notch, but really like her and seem to care about her, too (could be the homemade cookies and treats she takes to each and every appointment - no kidding). And we are blessed that this surgery is supposed to be a real cinch compared to all that she's been through so far. If it is cancer, then she'll drink a radioactive drink (no need for nightlights anymore) and stay overnight in the hospital, where the staff and nurses will wear protective gear to stick and prod her (just kidding - they did tell her that her meals would be brought in on disposable trays). Please pray for my Mom's spirit and healthy, full recovery, and please pray for God to guide the doctors' minds, hands, and hearts. Thanks.
